Abstract
This studyteststhecomprehension of a set of pharm- aceutical pictorials from the U.S.Pharmacopoeia Convention. Thisresearch alsodocuments therela- tivelyunexplored area of pictorial redesign. Concepts notwellcommunicated by the original pictorials were reworked with datacollected fromerroranalyses of participants' answers anddrawings generated from focusgroup participants. Several redesigned pictorials havebeendeveloped for further testing. A setof preliminary guidelines forredesigning pictorials is offered.
