Abstract

One of the most important areas regarding warnings is the chan- nel through which a warning is sent. This chapter focuses on research on how a message may be transmitted to a receiver from a source. A message can be delivered through one or more media and received by one or more sensory modalities. In many contexts, multiple channels can be more effective in warnings transmissions than a single channel. Choice of the appropri- ate channels may make the difference in whether that warning message is delivered to the at-risk population or not.
