It has been a successful year for the IEA with a productive Council meeting in Chile and many projects coming to or nearing completion. Welcome to our new federated society colleagues in Bulgaria and Romania. We also have new sustaining members and formal understandings with partner organisations, new technical committees and a group dedicated to better managing our liaison with the International Standards Organisation.

The IEA2024 Congress is coming up and the first round of abstract submissions has already closed. We are pleased to see the high level of interest in the event and the quality of the proposed presentations. This is an opportunity to learn and network with fellow professionals in the field of ergonomics and human factors. We hope to see you there!

During the 2023 council meeting, we held a series of workshops with the federated society representatives, where we gained valuable information about their needs. This will help steer our course into the future.

We are excited to announce the new IEA corporate image which will be introduced early in 2024.

The IEA webinar series has also attracted a stream of exceptional presenters, participants and visitors to the recordings. Some educators have used these as resources in their courses, which especially pleases us. New ones are in the pipeline for 2024. Our media team has worked tirelessly to keep the NewsBriefs and online information flowing. You can subscribe to the NewsBriefs on the homepage of this site.

The international networking and support of new HFE education programs have continued to bear fruit, particularly in Latin America but also in South East Asia.

There are a lot of other projects nearing completion by our very dedicated team of standing committee chairs and co-chairs and the ad hoc chairs. These are too numerous to mention in detail here but no less exciting and important.

Please think about proposing colleagues for the 2024 awards, which close in January as we will present them at IEA 2024.

We wish you a safe, healthy and productive year ahead (all of which are core aims of HFE!)

The IEA Executive team.
