In terms of our joint Memorandum of Understanding the IEA President met with the leadership of the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA) and the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) on 12 August 2026 to discuss progress towards meeting our shared goals. While our disciplines (HFE, Occupational Hygiene, and Occupational Health and Medicine) bring different perspectives, we share a fundamental purpose to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of workers everywhere. We discussed progress on our joint projects where we have been supporting this purpose including joint webinars, the International Informal Work Conference, and joint statements. New opportunities to strengthen our relationship include speaking with a stronger, unified voice to global institutions like the ILO and the WHO, supporting occupational health capacity, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, and expanding joint initiatives to address the challenges of informal work. For those of you interested in attending ICOH will be holding their Congress in Mumbai, India from 14-19 February 2027 and IOHA will be holding their Congress in Montreal, Canada from 4-8 October 2027. The IEA hopes to have a presence at both Congresses and will invite IOHA and ICOH to attend IEA2027.
Representing IOHA were Matthew Olota (President), Nancy Wilk (Immediate Past President), and Laurence Svirchev (Chair of the Stakeholder Relations Committee). Representing ICOH were Professor Seong-Kyu Kang (President) and Diana Gagliardi (Secretary General). The IEA will host the meeting in 2027.
