As the calendar year 2025 draws to a close, the International Ergonomics and Human Factors Association (IEA) would like to send our best wishes to all those who celebrate a special holiday over this period. We wish you all  great happiness and a restful time that you can spend with loved ones while observing cultural and religious events.

The IEA has had another successful year of operation, with a wonderful Council meeting in Beijing which was hosted by the Chinese Ergonomics Society and Tsinghua University. We had a fantastic turn out of federated society representatives and some engaging and thought-provoking discussions. We also welcomed the Bolivian Ergonomics and Human Factors Society as the newest member of our international family. In the background, the IEA Executive Committee continues to work hard to meet the IEA’s mission to grow human factors and ergonomics internationally and to support our Federated Societies in their own stability and growth. We have some exciting projects on the near horizon including the finalisation of the background document to what may potentially become the first ILO convention on human factors and ergonomics in the mid-term. The IEA2027 organising committee has been hard at work and the venue and dates in London (the Excel Centre from 23 to 25 August 2027) have been confirmed and announced. We look forward to receiving your proposals and abstracts in the latter half of 2026.

The IEA Officers would like to thank everyone (Executive Committee members, the secretariat, Federated Societies, Affiliated Societies and members of those societies, and sustaining members) for your continued hard work and support as we look forward to what 2026 can bring.
